Who we are
TaxFiler (“we”) provides a client portal that tax practices (“firms”) use to work with their clients. This notice explains how we handle personal information on taxfiler.space and in the portals we host.
Two kinds of data
Firm account data. Names, work emails and billing details of the people who run a firm's workspace. We are responsible for this data.
Client data. Everything a firm and its clients put into a workspace: contact details, questionnaire answers, tax documents, messages, signatures and invoices. We process it only on the firm's instructions, to provide the service. The firm decides what is collected and how long it is kept.
What we use it for
- Running the service: sign-in, storing and delivering documents, sending the emails a firm triggers.
- Security: logs of sign-ins, document access and changes, kept to detect and investigate misuse.
- Billing firms for their subscription.
- Replying to enquiries you send us through the contact form.
We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or use client documents to train any model.
Who else processes it
Our hosting provider stores the data. Email is delivered through our mail provider. Subscription payments are handled by Razorpay, which receives only what it needs to process a payment. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts.
Security
Documents are encrypted at rest, access is limited by role, and every view and download is logged. See Security for details.
Retention
Client data is kept for as long as the firm keeps it in its workspace. When a firm closes its account, we delete its data within 90 days, except where the law requires us to keep records.
Your choices
If you are a firm's client, contact your tax professional first: they control your data and can correct, export or delete it. You can also write to us at privacy@taxfiler.space and we will pass your request to the firm or act on it ourselves where we are responsible.
Changes
We will post any changes on this page and update the date above. Significant changes will be emailed to firm owners.
