Terms of service

The service

TaxFiler provides hosted software that a tax practice uses to collect documents from its clients, communicate with them, obtain signatures and send invoices. We provide the software; the firm provides the tax services. We do not give tax advice and are not a party to the relationship between a firm and its clients.

Accounts

The person who creates a workspace accepts these terms for the firm. The firm is responsible for who it invites, for keeping sign-in details secure, and for having the right to upload the information it puts into the service.

Fees

Subscriptions are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, at the prices shown when you pay. Fees are non-refundable except where the law says otherwise. If a subscription is more than seven days overdue, we may pause the workspace until it is paid. We do not delete a paused workspace's data because of late payment.

Acceptable use

Don't use TaxFiler to break the law, to store content you have no right to, to attempt to access other workspaces, or to disrupt the service.

Your data

You own the data in your workspace. You can export it while your account is active. Our handling of personal information is described in the privacy notice.

Availability

We work to keep TaxFiler available and to back up data daily, but we don't promise uninterrupted service. We will give notice of planned maintenance where we can.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the fees the firm paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.

Ending the agreement

A firm may stop using TaxFiler at any time. We may end access for serious or repeated breaches of these terms. After an account closes, we delete its data within 90 days.
